Following the maiden cruise, American Glory will spend the rest of the season sailing on the seven-night Historic South & Golden Isles itinerary between Charleston and Jacksonville and the 14-night East Coast Inland Passage cruise from Baltimore. The new fleet has been designed to sail in all types of water; small enough for New England harbors, stable enough for the Alaska Inside Passage and with a draft shallow enough for the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. American Glory will sail on the East Coast and the rest of the fleet will be deployed across the U.S. All of the ships are being constructed by the line's sister shipyard, Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland.
The Mississippi River is navigable from New Orleans, Louisiana to the Twin Cities of Minnesota, and forms a maritime corridor through the U.S. heartland. Traditionally for large-sized US riverboats, American Song has a fore-located boarding ramp (bow-location on Deck 1) that allows passengers to go ashore at any place along the ship's cruise itinerary route. We spoke to the hotel manager onboard about the excitement generated by the new itinerary. He said there have even been requests from port cities to light up the ship during the holidays. American Jazz is the first overnight river cruise to navigate these waters in more than 80 years.
